Leather Embossing
| Leather embossing is the process of creating a three-dimensional image or design in leather. It is typically accomplished with a combination of heat and pressure on the lather. This is achieved by using a metal die usually made of brass and a counter die that fit together and actually squeeze the fibers of the leather. This pressure and a combination of heat actually "irons" while raising the level of the image higher than the substrate to make it smooth. Embossing on leather is a process of producing upon various leather designs or patterns in relief by mechanical means. The leather is pressed between a pair of dies especially adapted to its hardness and the depth of the design needed. Finished products are obtained after embossing process is applied to leather. Embossing leather is very similar to embossing cloth. We searched high and low for something with a grainy pattern on it. Different patterns are created by embossing leather, and it provides authentic look to the leather. |
