Buff Leather Laces
Soft thick un-dyed leather from the skins of buffalo or oxen is called buff. This buff is light yellow in color shading towards pink, grey or brown. Finished with soft, velvet nap buff is an oil-tanned leather. Widely used in costume making they also act great for braiding projects, shoe strings, ties and wrapping. Buff leather laces are found in three forms, resulting in a more pleasant color to the leather. Sometimes no whitener is added to change the color during the tanning process. There are whitened buff laces and blackened buff laces. Both of these laces are prepared when whiteners are added in order to give much lighter color to the laces and also stained in order to give it a yellow color. |
